Inspired & the Sleep is the collaboration between songwriter-producer Max Greenhalgh and multi-instrumentalist Bryce Outcault, stationed respectively in Los Angeles and San Diego, who make a brand of indie-pop one might describe as “daydreamin’ on the 5.” There’s an open-road groove to their music, which mixes organic and electronic instrumentation, and a wistful air to Greenhalgh’s crooning about matters of the heart.
“Stay,” the third single the duo has released this year, is a paean to a crush so powerful it makes you weak in the knees and willing to ride out those wobbly feelings. “Stay is our piece about swooning in the throes of affection,” the duo says. “It doesn’t seem to matter where a lover stands in your life, if the emotions are there you can be convinced to stay the night.”
The single, officially out on Friday, follows two songs released earlier this year, “Right Place, Right Time” and “First Time.”
