Jessica Pratt’s new single seems to rise up dreamily from some coastal canyon. Is that the strum of a guitar or the distant sound of ocean waves? Is that a flute or water gurgling down a brook? Are those birds singing or is it Pratt? “Poly Blue” is the second song to emerge from her forthcoming third album “Quiet Signs,” due Feb. 8 via Mexican Summer. It was co-produced by Pratt and Al Carlson (who contributes flute, organ and piano) and recalls some of the great ’60s chanteuses who took listeners to unexpected places with their jazz-tinted folk-pop. Always idyllic, those places were.
