Laura Peters, a musician, visual artist and one of the driving forces behind Los Angeles’ Play Like a Girl collective, has died. She was 32.*
Friends said she was found dead by a roommate this morning in her Echo Park home. She had been suffering recently from migraines. No other details were available, said her band’s publicist.
A Colorado native, Peters, whose band Psychic Love released its debut album “The Hive Mind” in late 2016, emerged as a beloved and unifying figure in the local music scene, hosting underground shows at Vega’s Meat Market, a performance space she built in a structure adjacent to her home. A new Psychic Love release was in the works, with Peters having released two singles late last year, “Go Away Green” and “One & Two.”
