The music and lifestyle festival Lightning in a Bottle is on the move. After five years at the San Antonio Recreation Area near Bradley in central California, the DoLab-masterminded event has announced it intends to move to Buena Vista Lake in Kern County.
The dates for this year’s LiB are May 8-13. The first batch of acts for the festival is expected to be announced on Friday.
The new site, just west of Bakersfield, is about half as far from Los Angeles as its previous home, and it will reduce capacity to 20,000, according to information on the Lightning in a Bottle website. For attendees whose legs suffered from the fest’s previous hilly location, organizers point out that LiB’s new site is flatter (and shadier).
The festival still awaits final approval from the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
Four- and five-day passes are on sale to registered members today. Early-bird passes, which start at $300, go on sale Thursday.
See the festival’s ticketing page for more info. Organizers answer questions about the new location here.
