The avant-rock of Little Red Lung draws from a wide sonic palette — one minute you’re nestled comfortably on a lush bed of twinkling keyboards and the next you’re negotiating a thicket of echoing guitar, all while singer-keyboardist Zoe-Ruth Erwin spins lyrical imagery right out of some world Tolkien imagined. It’s taken quite some time for Erwin and bandmates Ali Nikou (guitar), Rob Hume (bass) and John Broeckel (drums) to muster the fairy-dust to create a full-length. Little Red Lung’s last release was a 2012 EP, but now the quartet is teasing the new album “Beware” by streaming one song per month leading up to the October release. July’s episode is “Get on the Boat,” an incantational electro-pop number that’s probably as close to club banger as the quartet is going to get. How the song fits into “Beware’s” mystical narrative remains to be seen; it’ll be a while before the story unfolds. But fans of experimental artists such as Julia Holter might want to follow along.
