Ofelia K

Like her first two singles, Ofelia K’s “Gone” feels stolen from a stained, onion-skin page in a diary. That had been scrawled with a really nice pen. Working previously worked under the name Wanderhouse, Ofelia K has a barely-there voice that lacks for nothing in phrasing, and in the context of her first three songs it’s powerful weapon even at a whisper. Her co-writer and producer is Andy Rosen, aka Doctor Rosen Rosen, who worked with Meg Myers from the ground up. Rosen’s work is spare and almost meticulously deconstructed, allowing space for Ofelia K’s ruminations. Of “Gone,” she says that he “played me a track he was messing around with that had a beautiful organ falling slightly in and out of tune. I was really obsessed with it and we began building ‘Gone’ around that part. I love the sadness of the subject matter, mixed with the optimism of the instrumentation.” No date has been announced yet for the release of Ofelia K’s debut EP.
