Video: Northern American, ‘Elysian’

Northern American’s “Elysian” feels crafted from precious materials, its rolling melody and shimmering guitar suggesting a band that’s placed itself above the fray, or at least one that’s found comfort in a bustling city’s natural hideaways. And so it is with the video for the song, made by Sean Zaccheo and Hazel Mailloux, which splices some of L.A.’s vistas into black-and-white footage of Nate Paul, Shane Alch, Augusto Vega and Bruno Calenda performing the song. It’s a contemporary take on the Laurel Canyon vibe, and exemplary of the music on the pop sophisticates’ debut album “Modern Phenomena” (due in May via Heist or Hit Records). Grab a seat by the fire and chill.
