Video premiere: Winter, ‘Some Kind of Surprise’

Whether they are transporting listeners to a blissful state with twinkling guitars or blowing their hair back with pedal-powered harmonics, L.A. quartet Winter knows pretty. Their album “Supreme Blue Dream,” which went to the top of the Lolipop Records heap when it was released last month, evokes some of the flagship bands of the indie movement of the ’80s and ’90s (Lush and Heavenly come to mind), and whether turned up or dialed back, Brazilian-American frontwoman embodies the hopeful romanticism and boundless energy of youth. The former quality abounds in the new video for “Some Kind of Surprise,” which was directed and edited by Lorena Alvarado from footage shot by Skylar Wilson and Joe Holcomb (the Super 8 segment). Let’s have a day at the park, shall we?

Note: The Echo’s April residents originally were scheduled to be Tennis System, but the band’s residency has been pushed back to May because of a health issue with one of its members.
