If you think you’ve never heard of Brooklyn quartet Chappo, you’re probably wrong. Chances are you’ve heard their song “Come Home” in an iPod Touch commercial from two years ago. The track was originally off of their “Plastique Universe” EP, which was followed up by “Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess” EP. After several short releases, David Feddock, Zac Colwell, Chris Olson, Alex Chappo finally release the album “Moonwater” (which was preceded by an EP of the same name) today as their first full-length via Majordomo Record/Shout! Factory. Over the years Chappo have merged their strong suits together by writing songs that are rowdy enough for rock and accessibly fun for pop, but the new record offers a new amalgamation they could easily own. Songs like “What Are You Kids On?” boasts psychedelic influences and garage rock sounds that twist and turn the kaleidoscope filter on their eclectic blend of pop-rock, and provides a fresh texture that playfully resonates.
