Giant Waste of Man’s new single “Swim” is an alternately lulling and pummeling indie-rocker weighted with existentialist wonder. File under: deeply introspective mini-epics.

Indie-rockers Summer Darling, staples of the L.A. scene from 2002 to ’10, will reissue their three-album, three-EP catalog in January, with proceeds going to a charity that’s important in the band’s backstory.
“Who knows, we just might do the residency and then break up,” a member of Fakers told me after a June show. Whether he was joking is anyone’s guess.
Post-millenial malaise, working-class poverty, creative frustrations — all those grievances are aired in “$600,” the first song to emerge from the new band Fakers, comprised of well-known agitators on L.A.’s indie scene. They bring their […]
Partied out from the holidays? “Liberty St.,” the gorgeous meditation from Ben Heywood, Dan Rossiter and Summer Darling, will help you take inventory. The new tune from the indie-rockers whose self-titled 2010 album offered an uncompromising look at Heywood’s own battle to keep his life on the rails, is, he says, “dedicated to all our […]
