Meet Morgan Kibby. She’s 24, makes her home in Los Angeles and fronts the chamber-pop ensemble the Romanovs. For most of 2008, Kibby has lent her ethereal voice to the French shoegaze-pop sensation M83, whose April release, “Saturdays = Youth,” is one of most critically lauded albums of the year. And over the next couple of months, as M83 performs throughout England, Europe and the U.S., Kibby will share her experiences here in “Every Day Is Saturday: On Tour With M83,” a diary hosted exclusively by Buzz Bands.

Kibby’s whirlwind year began after friend and filmmaker Eva Husson recommended her to M83 main man Anthony Gonzalez. “Anthony sent me some demos and asked me for ideas, so that was kind of my audition,” says Kibby, who speaks glowingly of the recording sessions for “Saturdays = Youth” in Wales. “It was a great experience, if for no other reason than I was finally getting the chance to do something I was not in charge of.”

Classically trained on piano as a teenager, Kibby ended up co-writing four songs on “Saturdays,” including the song that has become one of the top singles of 2008, “Kim & Jessie.” Besides her work in the Romanovs, she has released a dreamy cover of the 1982 INXS hit, “Don’t Change,” and, with boyfriend Jonathan Leahy (the Broken Remotes), composed the score for Daniel Stamm’s latest movie, “A Necessary Death,” which screens in L.A. at the AFI Fest on Nov. 8 and 9.
