[Kevin Jonas — you know, one of the brothers — can have his first legal drink today. Not that he would, mind you.]

boxinglessonLos Angeles ex-pat Paul Waclawsky is back; he skipped town for Austin, Texas, and assembled the lineup that would become the Boxing Lesson [pictured] whose Moog-woozy psych-pop gives you some pretty astral moments on its album “Wild Streaks & Windy Days.” The Boxing Lesson are at the Silverlake Lounge tonight (and at Spaceland on Monday). … Jon Brion at Bordello? Update: The Fold says Brion has cancelled (thanks, Koga). … In the big rooms, it’s Coheed & Cambria at the Avalon; the Faint at the Wiltern; and Danzig at the Gibson Amphitheatre. … And it’ll sound big at the Viper Room, where Shiny Toy Guns bring their electro-rock assault. … Brooklyn’s Apes & Androids [background and download here] play Club NME at Spaceland. … No Use for a Name returns to the Troubadour. … And Jim Bianco returns to the Hotel Cafe.

Have laptop, will travel: Obligatory self-promotional bits — my Little Radio show (6 to 8 tonight) returns from a week off; later, I will be selecting tunes in the back room at Club NME at Spaceland. Free drink to the first person to tap me on the shoulder during a “presidential” song.
