Tonight in L.A.

[Happy birthday, Andy Partridge. Somebody send me a conflict resolution manager for tonight’s schedule.]

Indie 103.1’s weekly showcases for local bands — now called “Check One Tuesdays” — restarts tonight. The offshoot of DJ Mark Sovel’s “Check One … Two” local program had called the Viper Room home before it was exiled by the Sunset Strip venue’s new ownership earlier this year. Now the showcase moves to the much-larger Echoplex, and it should be interesting to see whether it can fill the bigger room. Which tonight, is a possibility with a lineup of Earlimart, Afternoons [pictured at Detour Festival]and Red Cortez (formerly the Weather Underground). … A caveat, though: There’s a lot going on. At the Roxy, Spindrift is celebrating the release of its new album “The West.” … Spaceland has promising newcomers Two Guns and Rami Dearest (Something for Rockets frontman Rami Perlman’s new project). The U.K.’s Talk to Angels is playing too. … And speaking of bands from across the pond, Kaiser Chiefs rock the Fonda, and Travis plays the Troubadour. … I ain’t through: Bishop Allen plays the Echo with Australia’s An Horse — the latter, according to a trusted correspondent, recalling “more than a dash of Olympia, with some real honesty there; made me think of the Spinanes, and with a bit of rockin’ like Sleater-Kinney.” I’m listening to the duo’s “Rearrange Beds” and liking it a lot. … And Grampall Jookabox plays off-kilter folk at the Silverlake Lounge; Copeland rocks the kids at the El Rey; the B-52’s visit the House of Blues Anaheim; and Rickie Lee Jones holds forth at Largo. Help me.
