[Seems like a light show night in the big city — where is Joe Walsh throwing his birthday party?]
The Sounds aren’t just that band with the song in the Geico commercial. Their punky electro-rock has played quite well in L.A., and tonight they’ll try filling the Palladium. … West Indian Girl continues its Thursday residency at Spaceland. … Down in Long Beach, the Henry Clay People [Joey Siara, pictured] join San Francisco’s Little Teeth*** in expanding the walls at the cozy Prospector. … And that Jane’s Addiction friends-of-the-band party at El Cid? Not exactly something that invites walk-up business.
Update: Little Teeth have canceled the Prospector show, but very good local shoegaze-rockers the Meeting Places will play in their place. And, yes, there was already quite a line outside of El Cid by midafternoon of those hopeful of seeing Jane’s Addiction.
Unfortunately Little Teeth have canceled. The Meeting Places will play the roll of substitute teacher..the cool kind.
The Meeting Places were great. Too bad the Prospector was only half-full when they played.
