The latest album from Australian quartet Youth Group [pictured], “All This Will Pass,” will finally get a U.S. release on April 7, via World’s Fair and the Aussie imprint Ivy League. The band’s swoon-worthy Britpop made a mark here – at least with me – on “Skeleton Jar” (2004, Epitaph) and “Casino Twilight Dogs (2006, Anti-). Here’s a taste:

The Black Lips’ new album, “200 Million Thousand,” is due Feb. 24 from Vice, and while I suspect the Atlanta hooligans’ wild stories from touring in India will be far more interesting than their music, here’s the first single:

Chicago-based trio Company of Thieves seems to have a good thing going; their album “Ordinary Riches” album (out now digitally) comes out Feb. 24 on Windup. Genevieve Schatz’s vocals and presence and the band’s feel for old-school blues give “Riches” a lot of depth. Here’s the single:

“Skeleton Jar” was great, “Casino Twilight Dogs” was a step down, and sadly this new album is another step-down. Bummer.
So harsh on the black lips!
not harsh on the BL’s whatsoever. they’ve jumped the shark.
