[Happy birthday to Duff McKagan, rock star, online columnist and … mountain climber.]

My, what a diverse music menu you have tonight, Los Angeles. Let’s start with a couple intriguing small shows, like at the Silverlake Lounge, where Andy Friedman & the Other Failures are in from Brooklyn. Friedman is a New Yorker cartoonist-turned-poet-turned-folk singer whose new album “Weary Things”is full of country-fied stuff that’ll tickle your brain and tug at your heart. … At Bordello, ex-Los Abandoned singer Pilar Diaz plays material from her intoxicating new album of hybrid pop that makes your forget she ever fronted a rock band. … Meanwhile, party-starting quintet Iglu & Hartly – they of the “In This City” single, which has been all over KROQ and has gotten 2.6 million plays on a certain social networking site – plays the Viper Room. … And speaking of MySpace, Nico Vega celebrates the release of its debut album, on MySpace Records, with a Roxy show that also features the Yelling. … Between shows Wednesday and Friday at Chain Reaction, Circa Survive squeezes one in tonight at the Troubadour. … Also lining up multiple shows: NOFX at the Music Box @ Fonda, tonight, Friday and Sunday. … The Voyeurs are among a trio of bands at 3 Clubs. … Instrumental duo El Ten Eleven will put some bounce in the Hotel Cafe. … And in parts south, Mike Watt & the Secondmen and the Soft Hands play the Prospector in Long Beach, while Dusty Rhodes and the River Band and Eagle Winged Palace hit the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. Now that’s plenty, isn’t it? Here are some bonus items:
