Tonight in L.A.: Le Switch, Local Natives, the Mae Shi

[That Grammy telecast was as long as the Super Bowl – and the halftime show wasn’t nearly as good. Here’s a small offering of shows to assuage your awards-show hangover. I’m going to dig out some Carole King vinyl in honor of her birthday …]

Wouldn’t be surprised if somebody who was in town for the Grammys sprung a secret show on us tonight, but I haven’t heard about any. You have some excellent residencies from which to choose: Le Switch at Spaceland (where Vaudeville is among the support); Local Natives at the Silverlake Lounge (with the Meeting Places [pictured], and others) and the Holloys at the Echo (with Sabertooth Tiger). … Free Moral Agents, the side project of Mars Volta’s Ikey Owens, rock the residency at the Detroit Bar. … The Mae Shi rock it at the Smell. … Golden State is on the Viper Room calendar. … And cover band Petty Cash plays the comedy/metal night at the Key Club.
