No official word yet from the headliner’s camp, but I hear Morrissey has taken ill, forcing cancellation of the first four dates of a nationwide tour that was to begin Saturday in Florida. The missed dates will not only disappoint Moz fans, eager to hear the songs from his new album, “Years of Refusal,” but it will deal a blow to L.A. quartet Red Cortez – the tour’s opening act for the first 12 dates. Red Cortez is scrambling to put together some dates in Florida between now and the next scheduled Morrissey date, March 6 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The new Red Cortez dates should be announced soon. Also, Red Cortez’s new EP, “Hands to the Wall,” will be released digitally Monday at the band’s website – fans who buy it there will get a bonus sixth track.
I, for one, still think Morrissey is dreamy.
Red Cortez rocked in Orlando. Just saw these guys twice instead of once at the Hard Rock in Orlando due to Moz’s illness. These guys are FABULOUS. This was the best concert and new music that I’ve seen in years. Now, I know what all the West Coast Buzz was about. Everyone on the East Coast check them out at their next gigs. Amazing music. Will stay with you along time. History in the making. FAbulous music.
