[Belated greetings to John Doe, who celebrated a birthday on Wednesday and lent his voice to the Scott Walker tribute at Bordello. Emcee Michael Des Barres even led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday.” And kudos to Ann Magnuson for bringing down the house with her rendition of Jacques Brel’s “Au Suivant.”]

All seems to be better in the Animal Collective world – the makeup date for January’s postponed concert is tonight, and the Music Box @ Fonda is sold out. (The second local makeup is Friday at the Troubadour, also sold out.) … At the Troub tonight, it’s AC Newman, touring behind his new album “Get Guilty.” … Spaceland is the site of another sold-out show – Clues, a project founded by Alden Penner (ex-Unicorns) and Brendan Reed (ex-Arcade Fire),”  are in from Montreal with a dose of their inventive pop. … And count on a packed house at the Echo, too, where Health [pictured] and Abe Vigoda hold forth. … Nice shows in Orange County: The Bird and the Bee christen Santa Ana’s Yost Theatre; and Everest is joined by Two Guns for a show at Costa Mesa’s Detroit Bar. … It’s the Letters Burning album-release party at the Key Club; Chelsea Girls at the Roxy and Smile Empty Soul at the Viper Room. … Wounded Lion heads up a big bill at the Silverlake Lounge. … Tristeza is in to play at Bordello. … And for the art-walkers downtown, it’s War Tapes among three bands making noise at the Edgar Varela gallery (428 S. Hewitt).
