[Happy birthday to Chris Tomson of Vampire Weekend …]
Tonight: I think I’ve made this a monthly ritual: First Fridays at the Natural History Museum [pictured: Michael Stock DJing “in the wilds” last month]. Tonight’s fare includes talks by experts on Charles Darwin; then you can check on the evolution of music by Fool’s Gold and Blk Jks. … Unrelated: Tom Jones is at Club Nokia. … Also unrelated: Moving Units will rock the El Rey. … Day of the Outlaw has its album-release show at Mr. T’s. … And elsewhere, it’s Robert Francis at Home restaurant in Silver Lake; Automatic Loveletter and A Cursive Memory for the kids at the Knitting Factory; and Oliver Future at Spaceland.
Saturday: The big deal on this night is M83 with the L.A. Phil at Disney Hall. … Then there’s Coheed and Cambria at the Forum; Marcy Playground at the Key Club; and Mutaytor at the Palladium. … Lambchop is joined by the Radar Bros. at Largo. … And Olin and the Moon play at Home restaurant.
Sunday: Curumin is in from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to play Spaceland, it it promises to be quite a show. … Elsewhere, it’s Tina Dico at the Roxy, and the Tartans play Part Time Punks at the Echo.
As always, you should check the more comprehensive list over at You Set the Scene.
