[Fond birthday wishes go out to Edie Brickell this morning … now, for the rest of the going-out:]
Ex-Lonesome Cowboys frontman Randy Weeks [pictured at left] just released a new album of his rootsy, good-natured pop, “Going My Way,” and the Austin-by-way-of-L.A. singer-songwriter celebrates with a show at the Mint. … Are these guys on the radio yet? Oh No No Stereo [pictured at right]], whose new album of pop-punk-on-steroids, “003,” bears the production fingerprints of Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard) and Jim Wirt (Icubus, Jack’s Mannequin), as well as a cameo from the Section Quartet, plays its record-release show at the Viper Room. … And at the Troubadour, Rocco Deluca and the Burden toast the release of their new Daniel Lanois-produced album, “Mercy.” … At the Echo, Foreign Born emerges from hiding with a batch of new songs [see Thursday’s post]. … Cut Copy starts a two-night run at the Music Box @ Fonda. … Stellar folk singer Anna Egge is in town for a couple shows this week, including tonight’s Silverlake Lounge engagement with Learning Music. … Really like the mix of synthy sheen and jagged guitars on “What of the Future,” the album by the U.K. outfit Cazals, who are playing Cinespace. … Neil Halstead (Slowdive./Mohave 3) is at Largo. … Eulogies opens for Danish post-rockers Efterklang at Spaceland. … Akron/Family head the lineup at the Steve Allen Theater. … And at the Hotel Cafe, Gomez’s Ian Ball will have one of those music- and fun-filled friends gatherings (with Leslie and the Badgers playing immediately before him).
