Approximately 4,213 musical acts from Los Angeles will descend on Austin, Texas, next week for South by Southwest, and probably that many industry types, hangers-on and, yes, blogpersons. On the Buzz Bands show in Little Radio this morning, I will chat with some of them – including Kenan Bell, whose first single “Fruits and Vegetables” was just released digitally (his album of party-hearty hip-hop is due on +1 Records later this year), and the Local Natives, whose February residency at the Silverlake Lounge heightened anticipation for the release of their debut “Gorilla Manor.” I’ll also have new music from Castledoor, the One and the Other, Andrew Lynch, Harlem Shakes, Actionslacks and Foreign Born. Tune in at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
Here’s last week’s playlist:
The Buzz Bands three-year anniversary show, March 6: I started this show with the same song that I started Episode 1 with – “Interstate 5” by the Wedding Present. That song (all 8 minutes of it) has secured a spot on my best-of-the-decade mix. Thanks and congrats to listener Connie from NYC who was the first to tab that as my leadoff song. She won 3 CDs from the Buzz Bands stacks.
