Eric Maroldo explains that his music moniker the One and the Other refers to the duality between love and fear. The former Viper Room DJ overcame a lot of latter when he recorded “Montreal MM:0110” with friends in that Canadian city. His electro-sprinkled indie pop isn’t nearly as neurotic as that might sound – in fact, it’s the catchy stuff of head-bobbing and foot-tapping. Maroldo has assembled an L.A. lineup to play behind him; he’s been DJing (and playing occasionally) at the downtown art space the Landing Party.

Huntington Beach-based the Traditionist (Joey Barro of” Budge” and the Antiques) was reared on a steady diet of classic songwriters – Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, Dylan. On his album “Season to Season” (out this week on Better Looking Records), it shows. The Mother Hips’ Tim Bluhm helped Barro flush out his nifty touch for melody and verse, which the Traditionist will display tonight at the Silverlake Lounge with So Many Wizards.
