News bits: Stone Roses, NIN, Ida Maria, Dawes

It’s been 20 years since the release of their self-titled album, and now the Stone Roses, lured by the prospects of big paydays, are apparently patching things up and reuniting for gigs this summer, the Mirror reports. I see that the language in the stories about the Roses is couched very carefully, so you never know. But could somebody from Coachella put in a call?

‣ Honesty is the best policy. You’ve got to hand it to Trent Reznor for his candor in this Nine Inch Nails forum essay about ticket re-selling – which, without reservations, he accurately calls scalping.

‣ Norwegian rocker Ida Maria has signed to Mercury Records and her album “Fortress Round My Heart” will be released digitally in the U.S. next week. Highly recommended.

‣ Speaking of signings: Rumor is that Los Angeles rootsy guys Dawes are signing with TBD Records, and that Austinites White Denim are about to get a nice record deal too.
