[Birthday cheers to Steve Tyler, even if Blender magazine won’t be celebrating any more …]

I’ll start with a couple of fun-sounding under-the-radar things: Canadian genre-hoppers Hot Panda [pictured] plays the early set at the Silverlake Lounge. Then there is the electro-cool Alaska in Winter at Bordello. [Sample both below]. … Rosemary’s Garden, the new folk-rock project of Gringo Star’s Michael-Louis de Terre, celebrates the release of “La Musique du Jardin” at the Kress in Hollywood. … The touring juggernaut that is the Airborne Toxic Event, the Henry Clay People and Rademacher hit the Glass House in Pomona. … At the Echo, it’s Kenan Bell’s first local show of the year, with Illinois and a DJ set from Boom Bip. … The Show Is the Rainbow, Princeton and Sebastien Grainger play the Knitting Factory. … Also: The Tallest Man on Earth at the Troubadour; These Arms Are Snakes and Kill Kill Kill at the Echoplex; Dan Hicks and Hot Licks at the El Rey Theatre; Early Man at Spaceland; Christopher Hawley at the Air Conditioned Lounge in Venice; the Fishtank Ensemble at Home restaurant; and Oak & Gorski at the Hotel Cafe.
