Tonight: Hard-touring Cold War Kids have just set off on a monthlong U.S. jaunt that brings them to the Orpheum Theatre in downtown L.A., with support from fellow Long Beachers Crystal Antlers. (Side note: On April 18, annual Record Store Day, CWK will release an EP of four song recorded live at Fingerprints in Long Beach). … Other highlights: Pelican at the Troubadour; Gliss at Spaceland; the Asteroids Galaxy Tour at the Echo; and Los Lobos at the Conga Room.

Saturday: There’s the Prince tripleheader at the three venues at L.A. Live downtown. … Tom Morello, along with Slash, Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings, takes on the Music Box @ Fonda. … A couple of nifty smaller shows too – the Grates at the Silverlake Lounge, and Chad VanGaalen at Spaceland. … Also: the Paid Dues Festival at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino; Alesana at the El Rey Theatre; Madeleine Peyroux at Club Nokia; the OC Music Awards finals at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana with the Living Suns, the Union Line, the Jakes, the New Limb and Venus Infers; Brian Wright & the Waco Tragedies and Michael Miller at the Hotel Cafe; Emery at the Troubadour; Z Berg of the Like at Home restaurant; and AIDS Wolf at the Smell.

Sunday: Local stalwarts Radar Bros. and Le Switch [pictured] become matinee idols for this month’s edition of Kidrockers – the show geared to youngsters ages 3-13. Parental units should get their little ones to the Echo at 1 p.m. for the afternoon of fun. … Also: the Homosexuals at Part Time Punks at the Echo; Lukas Rossi at the Hotel Cafe; and Rasputina at the Troubadour.

Add Sunday: One I just found out about – the KSCR Fest at EF Hutton/Founders park on the USC Campus, features Crystal Antlers, the Happy Hollows, Mika Miko and Blank Blue, among others.
