The Laughing has a sense of humor, at least. Last year’s debut EP was called “Jungle;” the album due in May is titled “Fever.” The nervous dance music with its kitchen sink of instrumentation and samples is the brainchild of songwriter Logan Middleton and beatmaker” Grant Van Amburgh, who work with a rotating cast of other musicians. The Austin band worked with producers Erik Wofford (Explosions In The Sky, Voxtrot, Okkervil River) and Martin Crane (Brazos), and (with no West coast tour dates in the offing) here’s a track off the EP to get you moving:

Raleigh, N.C.’s Stu McLamb makes music under the name the Love Language, and his recent live shows behind his home-recorded debut album have gotten props from all the right people. No one-band when he tours, McLamb’s live ensemble numbers seven – their tour takes them to Spaceland on April 12.
