[Just got back into town from the desert, and darn if it doesn’t feel like the desert here …]
Quickly: The buzziest show of the evening is the Whip’s unlikely slot at the Henry Clay People’s residency at Spaceland. Not exactly a good fit, bill-wise, but the Manchester, U.K., foursome [pictured] are as good as disco-rock gets right now. … There’s a great local bill at the Troubadour, with Saint Motel, Aushua, Oliver Future and the Voyeurs. … Also: The Presets’ post-Coachella show at the Glass House; the Squirrel Nut Zippers at the El Rey; Michael Miller at the Hotel Cafe; and the very good residencies on the Eastside – Dusty Rhodes and the River Band at the Silverlake Lounge and Fool’s Gold at the Echo.
Hey Kevin! I ran into you at the Henry Clay show at Spaceland last night (the stalky dude with the yellow shirt and beard). Just droppin by to give props on the blog. Between spaceland and silverlake lounge, monday nights have never been so much fun!
