Tonight: If I’m still standing by this evening, it will be Wolfmother and the Ruby Sons at First Fridays at the Natural History Museum, then a quick jaunt to Spaceland for Eagle Winged Palace and Useless Keys. … You might be into the Black Lips at the El Rey Theatre though, and that’ll be nice. … It’s also the first of the three-night Peter Case benefit shows at McCabe’s, this one featuring Loudon Wainwright III.

Saturday: Wish I could see the estimable Dave Alvin at the Peter Case benefit at McCabe’s, but then there’s Yann Tiersen and Asobi Seksu at the El Rey. … Inquiring minds, and I know you’re out there, also may want to look into William Elliott Whitmore [pictured] at the Knitting Factory. Good.

Sunday: Maria Taylor swings through town again, playing the Troubadour, and” Damien Jurado plays Spaceland. That’s if you don’t have tickets to T-Bone Burnett night at the Peter Case benefit.
