Tonight in L.A.: Operation Aloha, Meat Puppets

Operation Aloha sounds like the Hawaii travel bureau’s latest promotion, but it’s actually a supergroup of sorts, including members of Maroon 5, Gomez and Phantom Planet. During a 30-day hiatus on Maui, the band – all 14 of them – made an album of chill, occasionally island-flavored pop music, and tonight they bring that music to the Troubadour (the Parson Red Heads open). … The Meat Puppets’ return – and it sounds triumphant to me – play the Mint behind their new release “Sewn Together.” … One-woman wonder Theresa Andersson plays Largo. … At the Echo, Avi Buffalo continues its residency, and the Faraway Places are also on the bill. … The Airliner has a big bill, including Actress and MA46. … And the Eye the Ear and the Arm play the Silverlake Lounge.
