Around the clubs, for folks who don’t have tickets the to the big Green Day show at the Music Box @ Fonda, or who aren’t going to brave the elements for Video Games Live at the Greek Theatre, or who won’t drive to Pomona for the Juan MacLean and the Field: You know you’re a buzz band when you have two gigs in Los Angeles in a single night. Either that, or you have adept handlers. Southampton, U.K., trio Band of Skulls [pictured], all set to take over the world with their forthcoming debut “Baby Darling Doll Face Honey” [Download: “Blood.”], hopscotch between the Viper Room (an 8 p.m. set, with Giant State at 11) and a late set at 3 Clubs, where Chicago’s Apteka also performs. … There’s a good lineup of buzzy locals at the Troubadour, with the Library and Anglos heading up the proceedings. … Fol Chen heads a top-drawer local lineup at the Echo that includes Karin Tatoyan, Wait Think Fast and Post Foetus. … Long Beach’s I Am Ghost plays the Knitting Factory. … At Spaceland, it’s Cotton Jones, along with the Parson Red Heads. … And the Nights and We Are Good Friends play the Silverlake Lounge. … Also: Little Joy at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa; Bo Burnham at the Roxy; Joey Ryan at the Hotel Cafe; and Swing Out Sister at the El Rey.
