The beats go on — and gets better — for L.A. dance-pop collective Fool’s Gold. The 12-member ensemble, who rendered audiences fairly giddy during their April residency at the Echo, has signed with L.A.-based indie IAMSOUND Records, home to such artists as Little Boots, Telepathe and Suckers. Fool’s Gold’s self-titled debut will be released Sept. 29.

Fool’s Gold, which began as a collaboration between singer-songwriter Luke Top and Foreign Born guitarist Lewis Pesacov, has blossomed into a force on the L.A. scene with its invigorating hybrid of West African rhythms, soulful vocals and pop melodies. The band has grown to include Matt Popieluch and Garrett Ray of Foreign Born (in fact, the IAMSOUND deal was finalized at Foreign Born’s album-release party on Tuesday night), as well as Amir Kenan, Jimmy Vincent, Brad Caulkins, Mark Noseworthy, Orpheo McCord, Salvador Placencia, Erica Garcia and Michael Tapper.
The album was recorded last summer at Sunset Lodge.
