Pablo Castelaz, 2003-2009
Pablo Castelaz, the 6-year-old son of Dangerbird Records founder Jeff Castelaz and Jo Ann Thrailkill, died Saturday after a long battle with bilateral Wilm’s Tumor, a rare form of children’s cancer. If you knew Pablo, or rooted and prayed for him as you followed his travails on the family’s PABLOg!, it was impossible not to be touched by his indomitable spirit, as well as the abiding love shown by family and friends. His battle prompted an outpouring of support from the music community, including the formation of the Pablove Foundation benefitting Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, the release of the “Give. Listen. Help.” compilation CD supporting the foundation and several concerts for that charity. Details on a memorial were to be posted later today on the PABLOg.
Deepest condolences to Jeff, Jo Ann and brother Grady. May Pablo’s spirit prevail forever.
Such a tragedy. Pablove will continue to do brilliant work in his name.
