The roster at Anti- Records gets even more eclectic with today’s news of the signing of Dead Man’s Bones, the project of Oscar-nominated Ryan Gosling and fellow actor Zach Shields, whose debut album (produced by Ima Robot’s Tim Anderson) will come out Oct. 6. (Click on image above to link to a video of “In the Room Where You Sleep,” featuring the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir.)
‣ Beck and Tom Waits have a conversation, and we get to eavesdrop.
‣ The Dead Weather’s album is streaming today on iLike, and I think you’ll like.
‣ An audience divided? I would like to douse with a cold beer the scheduling genius or geniuses who are responsible for pitting the Charlatans UK show (Music Box @ Fonda) against the Happy Mondays/Psychedelic Furs show (Club Nokia) on the same night, Sept. 18. (Did I mention the Meat Puppets are also playing that evening at the El Rey? Geez.)
‣ Islands, Tiny Masters of Today and Mika Miko have been added to the rock stage for Sunset Junction, filling out that part of the lineup.
‣” Our pals over at theFMLY.com have a great event planned for July 18 – Beach Dazed will be headlined by RJD2 and also feature Voxtrot and Busdriver, among others; festivities will begin at noon at Out of Asia, 3249 S. La Cienega Blvd.
‣ L.A. indie-pop trio Princeton has signed to Kanine Records and will have an album out in the fall.
‣ Promising L.A. duo Gangi is looking to fill out its lineup and is looking for band members.
I know where I’ll be on Sept. 18 – the Charlatans UK show because Giant Drag is opening!
I love me some Giant Drag; they’ve gotten plenty of ink from me and are going to get more. Amusement Parks on Fire are opening the other show, and they’re fantastic too. It just ain’t fair.
the tour should be Happy Mondays and The Charlatans, that would make a lot more sense. Will be interesting to see which show gets more people. Which venue holds more?
