[I’m posting these more for the quality of the songs than the videos. Enjoy:]
“This Sweet Love” is one of the stellar tracks off Londoner James Yuill’s debut “Turning Down Water for Air,” as well as his new “This Sweet Love” EP. The video is the work of Alex Emslie. Yuill’s shows in L.A. earlier this year were merely DJ sets; it’d be nice to hear his album performed by a live band. Oh, and here’s a nice remix: “This Sweet Love (Prins Thomas Sneaky Re-Edit)”
Olin and the Moon are the latest L.A. band to be featured on Groupee.com. The Groupee sessions are recorded pretty much in one-take fashion at Raymond Richards’ Red Rockets Glare studio in Rancho Park. The song, “Driving West,” off the quintet’s latest album, “Terrible Town,” reminds me of the first time I drove to California. Sweet and twangy. Olin and the Moon play the Spaceland Under the Stars series at Pershing Square on Aug. 12.
james yuill played at underground earlier this year.
he did not dj, he was amazing.
his first u.s. show.
a fantastic night.
Bummed that I missed that. The album is positively swoonworthy.
Think you were on a roadtrip. The show was so last minute that we only had a day to spread the word. He and his manager are stars.
Love his work.
