Dawes, crowd in harmony at kickoff of Echo residency

Apparently sales of Dawes’ self-released album “North Hills” have been pretty brisk – Wednesday’s opening night of the L.A. quartet’s Echo residency turned into something of a folk-rock sing-along. The album will get wider release via ATO Records on Aug. 18. Meanwhile, the band will be back and forth across the Orange Curtain almost every week this month – dual residencies have them playing at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa on Mondays and the Echo on Wednesdays.
