[Happy birthday, Tony Kanal. As for you, Los Angeles: My, what a big show list you have …]

oberst-sunsetjctnConor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, who were gorgeous in the summer evening air at Sunset Junction, hang around town for another show, tonight’s at the Echoplex, rather curiously billed with Swedish rockers Dungen. … Fresh off opening Green Day’s big show Tuesday at the Forum, Franz Ferdinand (some of whom apparently adjourned that show and caught the Dead Weather at the Wiltern) headline the Palladium. … Up for a trip to O.C.? Devendra Banhart plays the House of Blues Anaheim; Deerhunter rocks the Detroit Bar; and on the local tip, KUCI Nights presents the Broken Remotes, Francisco the Man and Mississippi Man at the Yost Theatre in Santa Ana. … Great garage-y fare on the Eastside – Crocodiles tee it up at Spaceland, and the Dirtbombs headline the Echo. Supporting at the latter show are Jail Weddings, who have a new album out this week titled “Inconvenient Dreams’ [download below]. …”  Singer-songwriters of note: Ryan Bingham plays the Troubadour and Pete Yorn plays the Music Box @ Fonda. … In Pomona, it’s the Dead Weather at the Glass House and Cake at the Fox Theater. … Also:”  Gary Wilson & the Blind Dates at the Bootleg Theater; Matt & Kim at the El Rey; Kate Earl at the Hotel Cafe; and Victim Vision’s CD release party at the Silverlake Lounge.
