L.A. trio Nico Vega should have been spending this week gearing up for a monthlong national tour with London rockers Placebo. But it wasn’t to be. Placebo was forced to cancel its U.S. tour in August after singer Brian Molko collapsed onstage in Japan from the effects of a virus. So Nico Vega, coming off an explosive performance at Sunset Junction a couple of weeks ago, has gotten dates with San Diego’s Dirty Sweet and Atlanta’s Gringo Star – and that tour, with the Silent Years, visits the Roxy tonight. … It’s Nine Inch Nails’ penultimate show at the Music Box @ Fonda, with Health opening. … The 88 (with the Secret 6 opening) continues its Tuesday residency at Spaceland; the band featured three new songs during Week 1, good stuff for fans of the quartet’s razor-sharp power-pop. … And AC/DC brings it at the Honda Center in Anaheim. …” Also: Nina Storey at the Hotel Cafe; Os Mutantes does an in-store at Amoeba at 6;” Hedgehog leads the bill at a benefit at the Silverlake Lounge;” Summer Darling at the Echo; Resident Hero at the Troubadour; I Will Never Be the Same at the Viper Room; and Collective Soul at the House of Blues.
