Sunset Strip Music Festival: Here are my quick picks – Talib Kweli (tonight at the Key Club); Vanaprasta (tonight at the Viper Room); HoneyHoney (tonight at the Roxy); the Donnas, Shiny Toy Guns and Ozzy Osbourne (Saturday, outdoor stages); the Tender Box, Eulogies and Earl Greyhound (Saturday, Key Club); and Nico Vega and the Knux (Saturday, the Roxy). Complete schedule for Saturday here.
Today: The first show of Dead Man’s Bones’ residency should be intriguing. The Ryan Gosling/Zach Shields musical project starts a three-week residency (they’re charity shows) at the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theater downtown. There will be puppets and a children’s choir – the forthcoming Dead Man’s Bones album was conceived as music to a stage play about zombies and werewolves and such. … Also: Vivian Girls at the Echo; Anni Rossi at the Hotel Cafe; and” Paolo Nutini at the Wiltern.
Tonight’s MEETING PLACES show at SILVER FACTORY STUDIOS has just been canceled due to “structural damage” at the venue.
