The Malloys-directed video for the new Silversun Pickups single “Substitution” gives us a game of musical chairs, at the Burbank Moose Lodge, played by ladies from the casting call for the new “Melrose Place.” Nice enough, but … “Substitution”? Are the powers-that-pick-singles holding back “There’s No Secrets This Year” or “The Royal We” for the Christmas season? And, not to have too many question marks in one item, but the Pickups play something called “LA 101” on Nov. 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre with the Dandy Warhols (?) and Matt and Kim (??). That date follows a month-and-a-half tour with the wildly fun Cage the Elephant that includes an Oct. 28 stop in my hometown, Peoria (???). I could regale you with tales of my boyhood exploits at the venue, Exposition Gardens, site of the annual Heart of Illinois Fair, but instead I will just ask: Need a good restaurant recommendation?
