Ears Wide Open: Orange

Hard to believe that the guys in Hollywood punk quartet Orange are barely old enough to drink. Even harder get your mind around the notion that the foursome is already three albums into its career. Orange’s newest, “Phoenix” (out this week on Hellcat Records), is vintage West Coast pop-punk, and if you like that sort of thing you’ll find that singer-bassist Joe Dexter and drummer Zak Glosserman (now with new bandmates Perry Ladish and Brendan Minded) are a little more polished – though no less adept at the hooks – than when they were making the Sunset Strip their own little teenage wasteland. They even cover Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day.”
