[Double-barreled birthday wishes go out Saturday to Tegan and Sara. It’s Jarvis Cocker’s birthday too. Now for your busy weekend, starting with two festivals:]

littlebootsHead east: The third annual Clean Air Clear Stars festival goes off at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, with a heaping helping of excellent psych-rock tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Support global cooling.

Head south: For family fun and a side order of good local music, there’s the Lobster Festival at the Port of Los Angeles (that’s due south on the 110, in case you rarely make it out of Silver Lake). Also tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Crustaceans rule.

Tonight: Hard to go wrong here. U.K. veterans the Psychedelic Furs and the Happy Mondays, supported by newbies Amusement Parks on Fire, rock downtown’s Club Nokia. … The El Rey Theatre will be jumping too, with Meat Puppets headlining and Dead Confederate playing in support of their very good album “Wrecking Ball.” … L.A. roots-rockers Everest hold forth at the Troubadour, with These United States and the Parson Red Heads warming things up. … Dancing will be in order at the Roxy, with Little Boots [pictured] and Music Go Music disco-ing. … And Night Horse brings its big psych-rock to the Bootleg Theatre. … Other things big and small: Fall Out Boy, Blink-182 and the All-American Rejects at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre; Pink and the Ting Tings at Staples Center; the Gaslight Anthem at Avalon; Gipsy Kings at the Greek Theatre; Funeral Party at Spaceland; Burning Brides at the Viper Room; Very Be Careful at the Mint; and Hanne Hukkelberg at the Hotel Cafe.

Saturday: Feed your indie-pop crushes – you have either NYC’s the Pains of Being Pure at Heart at the Troubadour or Canadians the Most Serene Republic at Spaceland (the latter with Aussies the Grates). … Mason Jennings plays the El Rey, with up-and-coming L.A. trio Crash Kings opening. … And you have Southern Culture on the Skids doing their thing at the Echoplex. … Also: Porcupine Trio jams at Club Nokia; that Psychedelic Furs bill moves to the House of Blues Anaheim; I See Hawks in LA visits the Bootleg Theatre; Chelsea Girls (with Killola and Go Betty Go) at the Roxy; Kate Earl at the Hotel Cafe; and Every Time I Die at the Glass House.

Sunday: An all-Scottish bill (and all sold out too) at the Knitting Factory offers up Frightened Rabbit and the Twilight Sad. … Chris Garneau, who just released his second album, “El Radio,” heads up a good bill at a free Hell Yeah! night at Spaceland (with Last American Buffalo, among others). … Also: Ravi Shankar at the Hollywood Bowl; Pansy Division at the Echo; and Livan at the Viper Room.
