Ears Wide Open: Voxhaul Broadcast

Voxhaul Broadcast is quartet that discovered a fountain of soul in its native Orange County a couple of years ago and drank from it to wash down a steady diet of freshly prepared guitar rock. The urgent, scratchy licks on their” “Rotten Apples” EP two years ago earned them some notice in L.A., but after a time on the developmental label Retone Records, bandmates David Dennis, Anthony Aguiar, Phillip Munset II and Kurt Allen are back on their own. And so far, so good – their new “Fact Fiction and Turquoise” EP (out this week) is mighty meaty, with great hooks and an affection for garagey guitar tones and tinkling keys. Voxhaul has a full-length album done too, recorded at New Monkey Studios (Elliott Smith’s old digs) with producer Elijah Thomson (also the bassist in Everest).
