[Happy birthday to Paul Simon, and here’s what’s on tap tonight:]
Bob Dylan starts a three-night engagement at the Palladium, and considering the forecast I wonder whether we’ll hear “Rainy Day Women.” Johnny Rivers opens – “Secret Agent Man” was one of the first 45s I owned. … It’ll be a night of well-crafted songs and great harmonies at the Troubadour, where Jay Nash, Low Stars and Shane Alexander comprise the bill. … At Spaceland, it’s “The Dewanatron Experiment” – electronic gurus Brian and Leon Dewan invite you to bring along a musical instrument (“a frying pan is a musical instrument if you hit it with a stick”) and play along. … Speaking of experiments, Virginia trio MAE brings its wild visuals, scented CDs and music from a new eight-song collection, “(M)orning,” to the Roxy, where Wisconsin garage-poppers Locksley open. … It’s a busy night at the Echoplex, where comedian Eddie Izzard does a 7 p.m. benefit before the venue is cleared for a show celebrating the release of “Binary Presents: LA Lights” – a collection showcasing the work of the electro collective. LexiconDon, Keenhouse and Short Circuit will perform. … Also: Japan’s Mono at the El Rey Theatre; Mariachi El Bronx at La Cita;” Dirt Dress at the Silverlake Lounge; Stacy Clark at the Viper Room; Lots of Love at the Bootleg Theater; and Caitlin Crosby at the Hotel Cafe.
Addendum: Wanna get your dance on? Denmark’s Spleen United rock Dim Mak Tuesdays tonight at Cinespace.
