Tonic and Emily Wells [pictured] head up the bill for Dylapalooza, a benefit Monday night for Dylan David,” a 7-year-old who is battling brain cancer. The event, at the Echoplex and co-presented by MySpace Records, the Hotel Cafe and the Pablove Foundation/Dangerbird Records, will also feature Sonos, Leah Andreone and the Lonely Forest. Admission is $10 and all the proceeds go to Dylan’s family. More info here.
‣ Speaking of the Pablove Foundation, Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz is eight days into his cross-country bike ride Pablove Across America. Castelaz and his friend and coach Rick Babington embarked from St. Augustine, Fla., on Oct. 10, with plans in November to reach the grave (in Forest Lawn) of Castelaz’s son, Pablo, who died of a rare form of cancer on June 27 at age 6. The goal of the 3,000-plus-mile ride is to increase awareness of pediatric cancer concerns and raise $1 million (donate here) to help improve care. Castleaz is video-blogging the adventure at the Pablove website.
