That’s the concept behind Bedrock – a facility that’s likely to soon be on the map of Eastside musicians and fans alike, if it’s not already. The complex shows its wares to the public (and their appetites) on Sunday afternoon when it hosts “BEDROCKtoberfest,” an open house featuring free food, beer from Bedrock’s own brewery and live music from Learning Music, Fort Wife (members of Avi Buffalo) and Evan Way of the Parson Redheads. The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. (to attend, e-mail rsvp@bedrockla.com).
The site of a former jewelry manufacturer at 1623 Alessandro St. (just off Glendale Boulevard), Bedrock is a multipurpose complex offering professional rehearsal spaces and recording studios (already open) and equipment rental and repair. Future plans call for an on-site brew pub featuring live acoustic performances, a walk-up cafe and three guest suites.
Bedrock currently has eight hourly rehearsal studios (that’s one, pictured) and three recording studios. There are also storage lockers, private lockouts and a soundstage.
Sunday’s event will feature a Gibson guitar demo room, a photo booth, grilled brats and other goodies, desserts provided by Isgoodmusic.com, an LA Record lobby and a Dixon drum room.
