Brooklyn three-piece the Antlers, riding a wave of critical love from Pitchfork (among others) for their album “Hospice,” are about to embark on a big tour supporting Minus the Bear (including a Tuesday date at the Glass House in Pomona). First, though, they headline the Bootleg Theater tonight – advance tickets are sold out, but there will be a few available at the door starting at 8 p.m. The lovely Timber Timbre opens. …. Fool’s Gold does the last in the KCRW’s “Sounds Around Series” at 7 p.m. at Westfield Century City. … Built to Spill checks in for the first of two nights at the Echoplex. … Excellent shows in the outlying areas – which, of course, aren’t outlying if you live there. Art Brut plays the Glass House in Pomona, with locals Parade of Lights (excellent earlier this week at Spaceland) and Princeton opening. And the House of Blues Anaheim has an excellent local bill featuring the Shys, Aushua and the Color Turning. … Canadian indie-rockers Land of Talk headline Spaceland, with Eulogies and the Monthlies supporting. … Eastern Conference Champions rock Bordello, and the Black Apples hold forth at the Silverlake Lounge. … And there’s the sure-to-be-fun pre-Halloween party being thrown Buddyhead and the FYF Fest at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts – the Icarus Line, Jail Weddings and the Night Marchers head up the bill. … Also: Flyleaf at the El Rey Theatre; the Tragically Hip playing a post-Kings game concert at Club Nokia; Lenka at the Hotel Cafe; Death by Stereo at the Viper Room; the New Fidelity at the Roxy; and Marissa Nadler at the Echo.
