[People apparently will be dressing up this weekend. I will not be one of them. Party safely. Here’s a very abbreviated list of my favorite shows this weekend. For a much more comprehensive list, check out LAist’s Week in Rock.]

Today: Amy Millan has followed up 2006’s “Honey From the Tombs” with September’s new release “Masters of the Burial,” the second solo outing from the female presence in the Canadian indie-pop group Stars. Again, Millan walks the fine line between country and pop, fashioning an album that’s airy and downright pretty, especially her cover of Death Cab’s “I Will Follow You Into the Dark.” Millan headlines Spacelance tonight. … Dead Man’s Bones does an early-ish show at the Echo. … Florence & the Machine – everybody seems to be swooning over her “Lungs” – plays a sold-out show at the Troubadour. … Built to Spill does a second night at the Echoplex. … And the Growlers do their ’60s-informed garage rock at the Bootleg Theater.

Saturday: The KCRW Masquerade could go without costumes and still be a great show: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Sea Wolf and Little Dragon will be giving out the treats at the Legendary Park Plaza. … Much-ballyhooed Dirty Projectors will play at the Jensen Rec Center in Echo Park. … Rob Zombie at the Palladium seems to a perfect fit for the night. … And Dead Man’s Bones does another show at the Echo.

Sunday: Horrorpops hit the House of Blues. … So Many Wizards head up a good local lineup at Spaceland. … And the Bravery starts stirring things up for its new album (“Stir the Blood,” Dec. 1) by playing the House of Blues Anaheim.
