When Laura Ann Masura’s longtime friend Josiah Mazzaschi heard she had been injured in a motorcycle accident, he didn’t sit on his hands. He got on the phone. Mazzaschi, the frontman of local indie-rock band Light FM, has organized a benefit concert, Jam for Laura Ann, on Sunday at the Echoplex to help Masura, a fellow musician and also a bartender at the downtown’s Redwood Bar, defray some $15,000 in medical expenses.

The 5 p.m. show ($12) features a heady cast of performers, including the Backwards Clock Society, featuring Billy Corgan along with Kerry Brown and Mark Tulin [pictured are Corgan, with Brown and Tulin in the far back, on Corgan’s recent solo tour]. Also performing are Syd Straw, the Happy Stars (Brian Young from Fountains of Wayne and Joe Skyward from the Posies), the Pity Party, Light FM, the Pulsars and Tim Rutili of Califone. There will also be a barbecue, a fortune teller and a raffle for collectibles.

Masura, a drummer and former member of the bands Evil Beaver, the Prescriptions and Motorhome, had recently begun turning her hobby – making homemade jams – into a business. Some of her sweets will be available too. Tickets.

‣ The Pablove Foundation will be the focus of a big benefit Nov. 21 at the Avalon. The evening, presented by DreamWorks Studios and Dangerbird Records, will feature acoustic sets from Tom Morello as the Nightwatchman, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tom Gabel of Against Me!, Shirley Manson, Butch Walker, Charlotte Martin and Jarrod Gorbel of the Honorary Title, along with special guests. ‣ Adam’s Attic, a band that relocated to Los Angeles after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on its native New Orleans, headlines a 4NOLA event on Friday at the Viper Room that benefits the St. Bernard Project, a nonprofit that rebuilds homes for people affected by the disaster. Purple Melon, John Clinebell and Jenni Alpert are among the other bands performing. Tickets.

‣ Singer-violinist Amy Farris, who died last month at age 40, will be remembered Sunday night at a show at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. Dave Alvin, Peter Case, Stan Ridgway and I See Hawks in L.A. will be among the performers to pay tribute to Farris, who played in Alvin’s the Guilty Women and had worked with dozens of musicians, including Ray Price, Bruce Robison, Brian Wilson, Kelly Willis. Proceeds from the show will benefit Farris’ favorite charity, Hungry for Music. Details here.
