’Tis the season for benefit shows and Christmas music. But first, a word from two SoCal bands who are releasing new EPs in time for the holidays. Parade of Lights celebrates its self-titled debut with a show at Spaceland featuring Army Navy, Evan Voytas and White Arrows. The star-studded event – hosted by Black Francis and featuring members of the Pixies, Love & Rockets, She Wants Revenge and Weird Al, along with OK Go, Tenacious D and Michael Penn – will help parents Chris and Jennifer Bertrand with their daunting child-care costs. … On the holiday music tip, singer-songwriter AM has a new EP called “Holiday Happiness & Cheer” (featuring his take on Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time Is Here”), and he will play at the Hotel Cafe with Sara Lov opening. His set will be followed by a performance from Meiko. … However, Rosie Thomas has been forced to postpone her scheduled holiday show tonight at Largo. … Elsewhere: Jonathan Richman does the first of three straight nights at the Mint; Story of the Year plays the Roxy; Black Math Horseman hits the Silverlake Lounge; Bruce Hornsby & the Range headline the House of Blues; Dynamite Walls rock the Viper Room; Zaza does an in-store at Origami Records at 7; Horse Stories play the Bootleg Theater; and I See Stars holds forth at the Troubadour.
